Dr Pho Kaung is Rector of University of Yangon (UY). Before taking this position, he has been Pro-rector of UY since 2009. He has also been leading a team of researchers from various disciplines as a professor of Physics at Universities’ Research Centre. Prior to that, he had worked as a teaching-cum-research staff at Physics Department, UY for 23 years. He got Doctorate degree in Physics from Hokkaido University, Japan in 1995. He supervised over 200 research projects of postgraduates in MSc, MResearch and PhD programs specializing Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science. He published over 40 articles in international and regional research journals. He gave talk on “Myanmar Strategy in Research” at the British Council Global Education Dialogue in July 2014 held in partnership with the Myanmar Ministry of Education and United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization ( UNESCO ).
